Id like to preface this by saying Im a big fan of Neewer. The valueformoney on all their gear is fantastic especially stuff like this, or flash triggers, or reflectors. It does make you question why other brands charge so much for essentially the same gear. Their softboxes are no different I use one in nearly every shoot I do now.If youre reading this then youre probably already at least somewhat aware of what a softbox does and why theyre good for photoshoots. If not, no worries, weve all got to start somewhere but theres a million tutorials online as to why you should be using one so I wont repeat them here. What I will say instead is to be very careful as to which of these you buy. The bigger the better you get a much softer light from a bigger softbox, but the larger ones the 80x80cm in particular can be VERY hard to fold away and transport, even in the handy little carry case they provide. If youre looking to outfit a permanent or semipermanent studio setup in one location, perhaps at home even, then go for the biggest one you can afford. If youre planning on taking this out and about, or youll be doing a lot of shooting on location, try one of the smaller ones. The problem is, each triangular side is supported by a sturdy wire which gives it its unfolded strength, and in the bigger ones this wire is simply too chunky so in order to fold it up youve got to really manhandle it into a folded state and wedge it into the case.I originally bought just the 80×80 but I found fighting the thing to go back into the case after a long day on location was just too much so Ive left that at my home studio now and just take the 60×60 out instead though sometimes even that can be a bit of an effort. Im seriously considering getting the smaller one for this purpose.Dont let that put you off the big one though I absolutely adore it, and what it does to my photography, and if youre not planning on moving it around much I 100 recommend that one most.
