    The Hue hub is easy to set up and use, as are the bulbs. I already have several Hue lights and find them very useful. The house I have just moved to has more than one light on each switch and no dimmers so controlling the lights with Hue and Alexa has saved me the high cost of getting an electrician out to improve the way the lights work. Plus Hue is saving me electricity as I only use the lights I need and at the exact intensity I need at that moment in time.I sometimes get comments from other people that wouldnt it be easier to get up and use a dimmer switch which could be true but I find them easy to use and my late disabled husband found them brilliant. I have had problems when music is playing and visiting children are being noisy. I can foresee problems with guests staying when they cant remember how to control Alexa or the names of the lights, therefore I was really keen to try the smart buttons.Sadly though, the control I have over the lights using the smart buttons is not as good as I hoped. You have to group lights into rooms which you can then control with repeated pushes. If you create scenes set the colour and strength for each individual light bulb within your room repeated pushes can trigger different scenes. You can also set them up so you use far more basic functions such as nightlight, dimmed, bright or all lights off. With guests in the house all lights off could be a disaster as it does indeed turn all lights off and not just the room you are trying to control. I can just see someone trying to turn off the upstairs lights and plunging the whole house into darkness which strikes me as downright dangerous. That particular function, a prolonged press, can be turned off but there is no safe method of turning off just that room using the button. Perhaps I need to create a scene that has all the relevant lights turned to off.However I have found that Hue do improve the functioning of the way things work as they get feedback. There is already a beta version of zones available but I havent tried it yet. Plus in time I might get to grips with how to set them up better.The coloured bulbs are fun to play with and work well but ultimately I regard them as a bit of a toy. You can even make them pulse to music. I wont be getting any more.
