This lamp appears to be the most recent incarnation of the classic Anglepoise design, and Im happy the design hasnt changed substantially over more than 30 years The spring loaded movement allows the height, reach and rotation to be adjusted, while the lamp can also be rotated, and the angle adjusted. The movement is tactile, and you can be confident its not going to move on its own once set in place. It looks great on the desk and works perfectly as a task light next to a monitor. Assembly is straight forward, and the three pieces fit together perfectly. The slightly larger lamp shade is perfect for normal size E27 bulbs, which is great if youre thinking of using a smart bulb. The National Trust branding is restricted to the pastel sage green colour which is distinctive. Colour is subjective so Id recommend seeing it in person. In keeping with the National Trust branding, the lamp comes in a recyclable box and compostable packing material which is entirely functional. Unfortunately the included bulb is not an LED, which was a little surprising, but does therefore offer a warm colour temperature.

The lamp is great looks good and does its job I use it as a bedside reading light. It took me ages to find the assembly instructions they were buried deep within the sturdy packaging. Maybe they could be taped nearer the lid

As already noted, this arrived damaged and was promptly and efficiently replaced, with excellent communication with the store. Very pleased. Thank you.

I like my lamp but it has a slight problem in that it does not always hold the position I put it in. Some joints or springs are not quite tight enough. Some adjustment is possible but sadly not where I need it. But it is a classic design and looks super so I am glad to have it.

Assembly is straight forward, and the two pieces fit together perfectly. Being an Anglepoise lamp, its well constructed, has a solid base and is unlikely to wobble on less sturdy surfaces. Lamp movement is limited to rotation and angle which is fine for a small lamp, and this movement requires just enough force to be confident its not going to start slipping over time my biggest issue with less well constructed lamps. The National Trust branding is restricted to the pastel sage green colour which is distinctive. Colour is subjective so Id recommend seeing it in person. Sticking with the National Trust branding, the lamp comes in a recyclable box and compostable packing material which is entirely functional. Unfortunately the included bulb is not an LED, which was a little surprising, but does therefore offer a warm colour temperature.

I bought the Gold lustre version. Have to say that once I got it out the box it really doesnt look gold at all more like a gold with a slightly pinkish tint to it. This wasnt a dealbreaker for me but I do think that John Lewis should do better in showing the true colour of the lamp. For those thinking of gold then, of the illustrations on the website at the time of writing this review, I would say that the illustration of the lamp shade is closest to the actual colour of the lamp. The lamp comes very well packaged and with a bulb also supplied which is a good help. The lamp I got had slight colour blemish on the base but its not something eyecatching so I wasnt really bothered by it. The only assembly required for the lamp is to push the armsplug of the lamp into the lamp base. I found this a bit of a struggle as it was a tight fit to get it in. Once in it is only necessary to tighten the grubscrew that holds the two parts together the allen key that is required to do this is supplied with the lamp in fact two are supplied, along with a spare grubscrew. I found that it was possible to overtighten the grubscrew so had to loosen it of a little after my first attempt so that the arms could rotate in the base a bit easier. The only other assembly required is to screw in the supplied bulb. I really like the switch for the light being on the top of the shade, very handy and better than an inline switch fitted to the electrical cable. However, I do agree with other comments made that the switch does feel a bit on the cheap side in its onoff switching action. A bit more attention to that on the part of Anglepoise would have been a good move. For anyone wanting to clear up the mystery of what bulbs this lamp can take the following is the case, only CFL or LED bulbs should be used 1 For a CFL Compact Fluorescent Lamp bulb it can take an E27 bulb up to maximum of 20W. This would have to be a compactdesign CFL bulb. I cant think of any reason why anyone would want to fit a CFL bulb when LED bulbs are superior in every way. 2 For an LED Light Emitting Diode bulb it can take an E27 Golfball bulb at up to maximum of 10W. LEDs are the best kind of bulb to fit in the lamp. The bulb the lamp comes supplied with is LED Golfball 6W, E27, 470lumens, 2,700K. When I saw this I thought it wasnt going to give the brightness of light that I would find okay to use. However, it turned out that it is perfectly useable for me. In all, very happy with the lamp and would recommend though with my slight caveats above. P.S. If you want to do some research on bulbs I would strongly recommend Wikipedia. There are several articles there that deal with the ins and outs of light bulbs. In that way you can come to understand what lumens and colour temperature K and so on means and why they might be important for your future purchase of bulbs. But for a quick note E27 is the number designation for ES Edison Screw bulbs. And E14 is the number designation for SES Small Edison Screw bulbs this lamp does NOT use E14 bulbs it can only take E27 bulbs.

This is a very attractive and useful floor lamp. I use it mainly to light an area that isnt well served by overhead or natural light and it is brilliant, particularly as the lamp head can me moved in all directions and will extend outwards, tilt up or down and so on., allowing me to direct light into dark corners or even inside cupboards. It is also a great work lamp, as the lamp head can be extended over a table and light directed wherever it is needed. The onoff switch sits on the floor and is operated by foot, which I find useful. The colour is lovely and works very well with my decor. It is solid and sturdy yet light enough to move easily. Assembly was easy using the tools and LED bulb that came in the box. Very happy with my purchase. An added bonus to learn that it can be registered for a lifetime warranty via the manufacturers website. Usual excellent service from JL.
