Beautiful, solid, quality light for outdoor use, which has a Philips Hue dimmable white bulb in the pack. I already had a Hue Bridge so didnt need to worry about buying one, but if youre starting a new Hue lighting system for your home, youll need to get the Bridge to control everything, which connects to your router. We already have our whole house running on the Hue lighting system, so I was delighted that its now possible to get outdoor lights as part of the range too. I cant sing the praises of Hue enough, we use our system all the time and its very effective. This light is just so smart and contemporary, it puts other outdoor lights to shame, frankly.5 stars

Luckily I got this on a deal with the motion sensor or else I would have returned it. This light looks good on paper and from a distance, but its actually a rubbishy piece of plastic. Everything else Ive had that is Hue has been pretty cool bit this really is an overpriced piece of cack.

Replaced the old garden lights with a pair of these. Easy to install and configure. They look great.Note the review asks me to score Motion detection. These lights on their own DO NOT have motion detection. I knew that when I bought them. To get motion detection you must buy the Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor, which is even easier to install its wireless and easily configured with Hue app and Bridge too.

Loving this new addition to the Hue range. Works well with a Hue bridge 2 dont know about a generation bridge. Light is bright, and easily controllable from the hue app, or via Alexa once set up. Lovely looking light, bright enough for a porch. Using the Hue app, it can be timed to switch on and off as required. Really impressed with this.

After just having got some lightbulbs up to now, this is the biggest Hue item in our house, and the first outdoor item as well. Philips quality standard remains high though, providing a durable, rugged device that inspires confidence. Inside the casing, theres clearly the same LED electronics as in the indoor devices, with a full colour range and a really mature set of colour controls that makes the cheese novelty colours of other LED manufacturers to shame. This is classy stuff. The maximum brightness is a good strength, 1050 lumen is certainly a bit wow thats bright but importantly its bold enough to light up a patio with four tables and a chair. Personally I prefer the subtler light approach anyway, as the lighting can drop to pretty much any level without being too anaemic or getting a digitalyellow edge.Mounting is straightforward. Its just like any outdoor light fitting, mechanically speaking, with a Hue tab connection tagged on. As Im guessing its unlikely this will be many peoples first Hue device, setup is very quick as youve essentially already done it. If this would be your first Hue device, Id recommend getting the Hue bridge and a few smaller items like lightbulbs first, just to warm up and make sure that your house setup is going to be what you want it to be, before you go to all the trouble of sticking this on your wall.As well as Alexa control, which is also straightforward and for which the setup is pretty much identical to setting up a smart plug, the next level of smart home connection for me lies in the fact that these Hue devices can be IFTTT controlled. By setting up rules and links between different devices, a variety of different events can trigger lighting changes. Track your phone and turn your lights on when you get close to your home Done. Set an IFTTT timer for turning your lights on and off either at a specified time or at sunset Done. Much weirder options like setting your outdoor light to the dominant colour of the artwork of the track youre lighting to on Spotify Erm OK yes, this is completely pointless, but its fun and its an example of how interconnected things are possible now. Beyond sheer novelty value, the security aspect of it is a clear plus.Depending on your intended mount point, its worth noting that the waterproof rating is IP44. This isnt the most waterproof rating that its possible to get. For mounting on an outdoor wall and being rainproof, youre covered, but if youre thinking about this device near a swimming pool, or low down in an area thats potentially floodable a problem in this area recently, then technically this item is not covered. Hopefully most sensible users and electricians wouldnt mount this anywhere that it could be a problem, but its worth noting just in case.Top manufacturing quality from a reliable brand, a really classy and versatile range of light, and easytofollow setup and controls. Hard to fault really.
