Goes greatvin my sons room and he loves it however the batteries last no time at all, put in on when he goes to bed and went to switch it off 3 hours later and battery had run out. This is the same 2 nights in a row so already went through 10 batteries in 2 days

This is a PIR gardenoutdoor wall light from Philips, usually known for half decent products. The outer grey frame is aluminium, and the diffuser is white plastic.Installation C The product is not easy to install, for waterproofing the holes in the plastic frame that mounts to the wall are not pre drilled, they are just grooves. The installation instructions are poor, and no mounting hardware is installed. For over 50 it would it be too hard to ask for a premade template and 4 screws and wall plugs Best way to install is to make a template and drill the holes into the wall from that. The hole spacing neatly lines up with the mortar lines if you want to screw to the mortar rather than the bricks. This is fine for such a lightweight product. BE AWARE there is a small rubber oring around the PIR that will ping out when you disassemble the lamp first time, this stops the cover over the adjustment screws moving too easily and slightly waterproofs the PIR, do not lose this like I did. Once the holes are drilled feed your cables through the gland. The gland is meant for round wired like flex, but for most people with concealed cables these are likely to be flat, so not ideal. There is just enough room to feed in 2 flat cables for a ring or mid radial circuit, no earth terminal so just terminate and sleeve the earth in a choc block or Wago. There is no provision for surface mounted cables or conduit. Please note that the hole for the cable entry is not centered on the product, it is in the lower left hand side of the light when viewed from the front, offset from the center by approximately 34 cm. There is no real space behind the light to route a cable, so you may have to chase the wall or your light might not be centered where you want. Line up and level the plastic frame to the wall then screw the screws straight through the plastic into the wall plugs you installed. This means theres no adjustment after you have screwed the first 2 screws so make sure you get it right. When you put the diffuser and the aluminium frame back on, there are two very thin Torx head screws to fix everything top and bottom. There is a small Torx allen type key included. These are horrible, the torx is loose and easy to strip. The screw is hard to put in straight and its far too easy to cross thread them into the prethreaded holes in the plastic mounting frame. when this happens youre stuffed, you cant then get them back into the original threads, and the screw is so hard to tighten up you may strip the head, use a good torx driver, or a slotted driver to cut new threads with the screw, thats the only way.The rest B Once installed, you have to set the PIR up. It is preset to the most stupid setting possible, it will illuminate for 2 seconds when it detects movement, day or night. So unless you want the light flashing on and off all day you need to change it. Theres no instructions for a good position to set the PIR so good luck finding something that works for you. I initially set to time horizonal so just above the lowest setting. And the day night vertical, so in the middle of the adjustment range. I will see how this goes. After setting the PIR one of the two lamps I installed would not turn off anymore, whatever setting it tried. So i got a replacement, and found out that there is no way to just swap the sensor unit from one to the other without cutting and splicing wires, so I had to completely remove the old lamp and reinstall the new lamp. Great job Philips. The diffusers arent great, you cant see the individual LEDs but its far from an even light. They may as well have sold the lamp with a ES or BC fitting and a separate replaceable LED lamp for all the good the diffuser does. Honestly i would have much preferred this, for later servicability. The LED seems to be driven by a very basic capacitative dropper, but as with most Philips lights there is enough smoothing that it doesnt noticeably flicker, unlike cheaper units, which is a significant plus. There is significant light bleed behind the unit against the brick wall as a result of the mounting frame being a clear plastic. This should have been an opaque material in my opinion to prevent this as it is not a great look. It might be better on a perfectly flat and smooth wall, but will still bleed some light. The light is a warm white, which is fine for me, it is reasonably bright, but does not project downwards significantly, so is better for lighting a wider area or being mounted lower down. Overall 3 starsC This is not a great product, but once installed fulfills my needs. I really needed a larger lamp to hide the huge number of drilled holes in the brick wall from previously failed lights. I have another 8 lights to replace, and i may suffer the installs again because most lamps cannot take 2 flat cables easily, and wont cover all the old mounting holes. I would have preferred a white frame rather than this dark grey anthracite, but it will do. Philips should look at this as a learning experience and make better lamps as a result. There is no reason to have a clear plastic mounting frame, the screws should be bigger. The instructions clearer, and the PIR and LED units replaceable, then if theres a failure in the warranty period they can just provide the replacement module.

I would have given 5 stars, but one of the lights was scratched. They do look very nice outside our front door.
